My name is Giles, and I am the head coach of Ronin Grappling in Glasgow, Scotland - I have been practicing BJJ since 2007, and have had the privilege of teaching at BJJ Globetrotter camps since 2020.
I take a methodical and analytical approach to BJJ, drawing heavily on my background in Computer Science and my career in the IT industry - my primary goal is to provide students with clear & easily followed technical tuition, illustrating critical grappling concepts and keeping up to date with the latest developments in high level tournaments.
I take in anywhere between 8 - 15 hours of Jiu Jitsu content from sources such as match footage from services like FloGrappling/UFC FightPass, video portals (Grappler's Guide, SubMeta) and Podcasts (BJJ Mental Models, The Chewjitsu Podcast) - this is all on top of my own teaching and training, and the various training camps I attend/teach at.
Long story short, I do the legwork and come up with content that is current, easily digested, and hopefully not dull as dishwater!

Open Guard Retention and Attacks - Seated Guard - Shin on Shin Entry
4m 28s
In this video, we take a look at how to use the Shin-on-Shin as a method to enter into various Open Guards, such as Single Leg X, X-Guard or Cross Guard - the Shin-on-Shin also helps disrupt your opponent's balance so even if you are unable to engage your opponent in an Open Guard, you will still potentially open up other offensive opportunities.
